Disciple
Definition:
A disciple is a committed follower of Jesus Christ—someone who learns from Him, lives like Him, and helps others do the same. Discipleship is not a title but a way of life: a continual journey of surrender, obedience, growth, and love.
Biblical Basis:
Matthew 16:24 — “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
John 8:31 — “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.”
Luke 6:40 — “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.”
Theological Significance:
Jesus never asked for converts—He called for disciples. True discipleship involves more than belief; it involves transformation. A disciple doesn’t just admire Christ—they follow Him, obey Him, and become like Him. This includes embracing His teachings, His mission, and His love.
How We Use It in DiscipleLife:
You’re not just here to read—you’re here to follow. This Expedition is for disciples: learners on a lifelong journey with Jesus. We don’t graduate from discipleship; we grow deeper into it. Every essay, question, and waypoint is meant to form us more fully into the image of our Teacher.
