Evidence

« Back to Glossary Index

Definition:

Evidence refers to information or facts that support a claim or conclusion. In matters of truth, evidence points beyond opinion toward reality. Scripture affirms that God has provided sufficient evidence of Himself and His truth.

Biblical Basis:

Acts 17:31 — “Because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”

Romans 1:20; John 20:30–31; Hebrews 11:1

Theological Significance:

Biblical faith is not blind belief but trust grounded in what God has revealed and done. Scripture repeatedly appeals to evidence, testimony, and witness. Rejecting evidence is portrayed not as neutrality, but as suppression of truth.

How We Use It in DiscipleLife:

DiscipleLife encourages honest engagement with evidence rather than fear of questions. We examine creation, history, Scripture, and experience as cumulative witnesses to truth. Evidence helps anchor faith in reality rather than sentiment.
