Knowledge
Knowledge refers to the understanding of what is true, real, and meaningful. In Scripture, knowledge is not merely the accumulation of information, but understanding rooted in relationship with God. True knowledge begins with God and is ordered by His truth.
Biblical Basis:
Proverbs 2:6 — “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
Proverbs 1:7; Colossians 2:2–3; Romans 1:21
Theological Significance:
Scripture distinguishes between knowing facts and knowing truth rightly. Knowledge divorced from God leads to pride and confusion, while knowledge grounded in reverence for the Lord leads to wisdom. Biblical knowledge is meant to transform the knower, not merely inform the mind.
How We Use It in DiscipleLife:
DiscipleLife treats knowledge as a servant, not a master. We seek knowledge in order to love God more fully and live more faithfully. Knowledge that does not lead to humility, obedience, and love is considered incomplete.
