Readiness

« Back to Glossary Index

Definition:

Readiness refers to the posture of heart and mind that is willing to receive truth and respond to God’s work. It is not about spiritual ability, but about openness, humility, and surrender. Scripture consistently emphasizes readiness before instruction.

Biblical Basis:

James 1:21 — “Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

Luke 8:15; Psalm 51:10; Proverbs 4:23

Theological Significance:

God does not force transformation upon an unwilling heart. Readiness is the soil condition that determines whether truth bears fruit. Scripture presents readiness as a moral and spiritual posture, not an intellectual one.

How We Use It in DiscipleLife:

DiscipleLife begins with readiness rather than answers. We focus first on preparing the heart before pursuing deeper truth. Without readiness, even correct teaching can be resisted or misapplied.
