Contradiction
A contradiction occurs when two claims cannot both be true at the same time and in the same sense. In matters of truth, contradiction signals that at least one belief is false. Scripture affirms that God’s truth is coherent and does not contradict itself.
Biblical Basis:
1 Corinthians 14:33 — “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.”
Numbers 23:19; Titus 1:2; John 10:35
Theological Significance:
Because God is truthful and consistent, genuine contradictions cannot exist within His revelation. Apparent contradictions arise from misunderstanding, poor interpretation, or false assumptions. Recognizing contradiction is essential for sound reasoning and faithful theology.
How We Use It in DiscipleLife:
DiscipleLife treats contradiction as a warning light rather than something to explain away. When beliefs conflict, we pause and re-examine assumptions, context, and authority. Identifying contradictions helps realign thinking with truth rather than forcing coherence where it does not exist.
