Logic

« Back to Glossary Index

Definition:

Logic is the science and art of reasoning rightly. It provides the structure for sound thinking by identifying valid patterns of thought and exposing contradictions, fallacies, and false conclusions. Logic helps us discern truth from error.

Biblical Basis:

Isaiah 1:18 — “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord…”

Acts 17:2 — “Paul went in… and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures…”

1 Thessalonians 5:21 — “Test everything; hold fast what is good.”

Theological Significance:

God is a God of order, not confusion. Since we are made in His image, we are designed to think rationally and pursue truth. Logic is not opposed to faith—it protects it. Sound reasoning helps us understand Scripture accurately, defend the faith effectively, and avoid deception. Christianity invites rigorous thought rooted in God’s reality.

How We Use It in DiscipleLife:

This Expedition is a journey of both the heart and the mind. Logic is one of the primary tools in our pack. When we ask, “Is this true?” or “Does that follow?” we’re engaging the mind God gave us. We won’t bypass hard questions—we’ll reason through them with Scripture as our map and the Spirit as our guide.
