Purpose
Purpose
Definition:
In the biblical worldview, purpose is not something we invent—it’s something we receive. It originates not in emotion, culture, or self-definition, but in the will of the Creator. God gives purpose to all things, including us.
Biblical Basis:
- Revelation 4:11 — “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
- Ephesians 1:4–5 — “…he chose us… according to the purpose of his will.”
Theological Significance:
To live without purpose is to live adrift. But in Christ, we find that our lives are not accidents—we were meant to be. Biblical purpose grounds identity, calling, and morality. It forms the foundation for discipleship: we were made by God, for God.
How We Use It in DiscipleLife:
“Purpose” is a foundational term—it appears in the very first essay because it’s the starting point for understanding who we are and why we exist. Every step of the journey builds on this truth: we are here on purpose.
